The Fellowship is your chance to use your skills to directly impact everyday people’s lives and transform government from the inside out. Our partnerships with government create cultural and structural change in local and state government by pairing technologists with government teams who want to create great services for the public, and enabling them to rapidly deploy technology that is easy to use, that works in real time, and that operates at a fraction of the cost that governments are used to.

How:  The Code for Australia fellowship is a full-time, paid six-month program for experienced technologists and designers. Cross-functional teams of three are embedded in local and state governments to develop digital tools that help cities and states deliver key public services across health, economic development, and safety and justice.

Who: Fellows are mission-driven digital professionals with multi-disciplinary experience in engineering, design, user experience, research, GIS and product management. Fellows are curious, creative, entrepreneurial, and have a demonstrated commitment to teamwork and respectful communication. We welcome and support technologists from traditionally underrepresented communities. The one restriction: you must be eligible to work in Australia.

When: We run Fellowships on an ongoing basis. The next Fellowship may start in a couple of weeks or months, so we need to have your details on deck if you're interested.

Where: Fellows are based where their respective government partner is located with travel to our HQ in Melbourne.
