I met new people who I would never have had the opportunity to meet. We were taught actionable techniques we could use straight away. There was no manual we worked through, just discussion and presentations from very interesting people.
It has been such an amazing experience for me to talk about these issues we're having in government and meet people who are willing to help make change. I think this approach will be massively beneficial to others in my dept and across government It's an ideal way to introduce govt to a 'new' way of getting things done.
The academy aligned with what I felt I needed to take the next steps in getting things done. It's not just access to the industry people but also to the things that they're willing to share, that made it an excellent experience.
The difference with this program is that it gives people a broader introduction about the processes and techniques that can be used for user research... The human connection with parolees and their life story is something that I’ll remember for a very long time.
One of the real strengths of the Academy is the collaborating across different government sectors and with the private sector, is bringing in those different ideas and different perspectives. It really helps with the collaboration and generating of ideas.
